This Privacy Policy explains what personal information the NAM app collects, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information the NAM app (the “App”) collects, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. The App is created, operated, and serviced by AfterSunday, a brand of Progressive Venture LLC (“AfterSunday,” “we,” “us”), which acts as the data controller for the App, on behalf of the National Apostolate of Maronites (“NAM”), the community the App serves. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to this Policy.
We collect only what we need to run the community features of the App. The categories below correspond to the permissions the App requests and the data declared in our App Store and Google Play privacy disclosures.
When you register, we collect your name, email address or mobile phone number. You may provide either; one is required to create and secure your account. We also collect your date of birth, and the city and state you provide.
We do not require your full street address.
You may also add optional profile details, such as a profile photo, your home parish, career, or interests. Date of birth is used to confirm you meet the minimum age and to apply age-appropriate settings and program eligibility.
If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, the provider sends us a basic identifier and the name and email associated with your account so we can create or access your profile.
We do not receive your provider password.
If you use Apple’s “Hide My Email” feature, we receive only the relay address Apple provides.
We collect the content you create in the App, including prayer requests, community feed posts and comments, direct and group chat messages, and reactions such as likes.
We also store reports you submit about other content or users, and your block list.
With your permission, the App can access your camera and photo library so you can set a profile picture, attach images to posts, and use in-App capture features.
We only access photos you choose to share. We do not scan your full photo library.
Separately, if you opt in to event photo matching, the App processes facial data as described in Section 2.
With your permission, the App can use your microphone to let you record voice notes or audio you choose to share within the community, and to use voice features of the in-App AI assistant where available.
We process this audio to deliver the feature you requested.
With your permission, the App uses your device location to show nearby parishes, groups, and events and to place them on a map relative to you.
You can use most of the App without granting location access. Where you decline, location-based suggestions and map positioning are simply unavailable.
You can change this permission at any time in your device settings.
If you are 18 or older and choose to enable the App’s optional event photo matching feature, we collect a face template derived from images of your face so we can identify you in community event photos.
Because this is sensitive information, it is governed by a dedicated section with its own separate opt-in consent, as described in Section 2, and our standalone Biometric Data Policy.
When you use the in-App AI assistant, “Jana,” the AI Community Manager, we process the messages and questions you send to it, and relevant profile and community data, so it can respond and help connect you with the community.
See Section 5 and Section 7.
To operate, secure, analyze, and improve the App, we collect technical information such as device model, operating-system version, app version, language, a per-install identifier, crash data, and event/usage logs.
We use this for security, troubleshooting, reliability, and first-party analytics, meaning understanding how the App is used so we can improve it.
We do not use advertising identifiers and do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Event photo matching using facial recognition is strictly optional and available only to users 18 years of age or older.
Before any face template is created, the App presents a dedicated consent screen describing what is collected and why, and you must give explicit, affirmative opt-in consent.
This consent is not bundled into the general Terms of Service or this Policy. You provide it separately, and you can decline and still use the rest of the App.
If you opt in, we create a mathematical face template, which is a numeric representation of your facial features, from camera images.
The template is what we store and use. We do not retain the underlying enrollment images longer than needed to generate the template.
We use your face template solely to match you to photos taken at community events so those photos can be surfaced to you through event photo matching.
We do not use it for surveillance, advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the feature you turned on.
Your face template is stored server-side on AfterSunday’s own backend infrastructure and is encrypted at rest.
It is never stored on or used by any third-party facial-recognition service.
We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from your biometric data, and we do not disclose it to any third party, except where you have separately consented or where disclosure is required by valid legal process.
Our staff and processors may access it only as strictly necessary to operate and secure the feature.
You can permanently delete your face template at any time, with no effect on the rest of your account, via:
Settings → Privacy → Delete Face Data
Deleting your account also permanently deletes your face template.
On deletion, the server-side template is destroyed and is not recoverable.
We retain your face template only while the feature remains enabled on your account.
We will permanently destroy it at the earliest of:
This schedule is intended to meet the destruction requirements of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act, and Washington’s biometric law.
If you reside in a state with a biometric privacy law, you have the right to:
To exercise these rights, use the in-App deletion control or contact us at info@aftersunday.church with the subject “Biometric Data Request.”
We use the information described above to:
We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising.
We do not serve ads in the App.
We do not sell your personal information.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR:
To provide the account and community features you request.
For camera, photos, microphone, location, optional notifications, and especially facial/biometric data.
You can withdraw consent at any time.
To secure the App, prevent abuse, moderate community content, and perform first-party analytics to improve the App, balanced against your rights.
Where the law requires us to retain or disclose information.
The App includes AI-generated content.
The in-App AI assistant, “Jana,” is powered by third-party AI providers acting as our service providers under contract. These may include providers such as Anthropic and/or OpenAI for language models, and third-party speech-to-text and text-to-speech providers where voice features are offered.
When you interact with the assistant, your messages and relevant community data are sent to these providers solely to generate responses for you.
These providers are contractually restricted from using your content for their own purposes or to train their models on your data, except as needed to provide the service to us.
AI responses are produced automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date.
They are provided for general informational and community-support purposes only and are not spiritual direction, counseling, or legal, medical, or financial advice.
Always confirm important matters with your clergy or a qualified professional.
Every AI reply includes a way to report or flag it. We review flagged content and use server-side filters and prompt controls designed to prevent the assistant from producing harmful, deceptive, sexual, or self-harm content.
The App contains community features, including the feed, chat, prayer requests, and profiles, where you and others post content.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behavior, as further described in our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.
To keep the community safe, the App provides tools to report content, messages, and user profiles, and to block other users.
We act on reports, generally within 24 hours of receiving a report, and we may remove content and suspend or remove accounts that violate our rules.
When you submit a report, we store the report reason, the content or user reported, your identifier as reporter, and a timestamp so our moderation team can act.
A core purpose of the App is helping members of the NAM community find and connect with one another.
To do this:
Profile information you provide, such as your name, parish, career, and interests, may be discoverable by other members through browsing and search, including natural-language search powered by the AI assistant.
You control much of what you put in your profile.
The App uses your profile information to identify and display things you may have in common with other members, such as shared parish, interests, or background, to help you connect.
If you are 18 or older and choose to complete the optional interest questionnaire, which may include gender, the type of connection you are seeking, marital status, family region, and where you are in your faith, we use your answers to:
Members may then join group chats and exchange group or private messages.
These suggestions are produced by automated systems and are not reviewed or endorsed by a person before you see them.
Some of this information is sensitive, for example religious belief, relationship intentions, and marital status.
Providing it is optional. You may skip any question. By answering, you consent to its use for these features.
This questionnaire and the discoverability it creates are limited to members 18 and older.
You can request deletion of your questionnaire answers by emailing info@aftersunday.church.
If you choose to list yourself as a business or freelancer, the contact information and portfolio details you submit are displayed to other members for discovery.
Provide only information you are comfortable sharing publicly within the community.
The specific categories of information used to power these connection and AI features are approved by NAM, and NAM is responsible for obtaining any member consents required for their collection and use.
If you do not wish to appear in the directory or be included in connection features, contact us or adjust the relevant profile settings where available.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We disclose information only as follows:
Content you choose to post, including feed posts, comments, and prayer requests, and profile details you make visible are seen by the relevant community by design.
See Section 7.
So they can manage the community, broadcast to the feed, respond to prayer requests, administer programs, and moderate content.
Vendors who host our infrastructure, power AI features, deliver messages, process payments, and provide maps and sign-in act only on our instructions.
See Section 9.
To comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, NAM, or AfterSunday.
If AfterSunday or the App is involved in a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction, subject to this Policy.
Your facial/biometric data is never included in any of the disclosures above, as stated in Section 2.
The App relies on the following categories of third-party providers, each handling data under its own privacy terms and under contract with us.
Specific providers may change over time. Current examples include:
Examples: Amazon Web Services
Used for secure hosting of our backend and databases.
Examples: Anthropic and/or OpenAI, and speech-to-text / text-to-speech providers where voice is offered.
Used to power the in-App AI assistant.
Examples: an SMS/voice provider such as Twilio, and an email provider such as SendGrid.
Used to deliver notifications, texts, and emails where you have opted in.
Live once those features are enabled.
Example: Stripe
Used if you make donations or purchases.
We do not collect or store your full card details.
Example: Google Maps Platform
Used for map and location features.
Examples: Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple
Used for optional sign-in.
We do not include third-party advertising, ad-tracking, or cross-app tracking SDKs in the App.
Retained while your account is active.

See Section 12.
Retained while posted.
Disassociated from you or deleted when you delete your account, subject to copies others may have received.
Retained per the schedule in Section 2 and destroyed at the earliest applicable trigger, or within three years of your last interaction.
Retained as needed to enforce our rules and meet legal obligations.
Retained for a limited period for security, reliability, and improvement.
Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged on our routine backup cycle within 30 days of deletion.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time.
Under GDPR, you have the rights above, plus the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Under CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing.”
We do not sell or share your information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Residents of Illinois, Texas, Washington, and similar states have the additional biometric rights described in Section 2.
You can manage most data directly in the App:
To make any other request, contact us at info@aftersunday.church.
We respond within the time required by law, generally within 30–45 days, and may need to verify your identity first.
You can delete your account at any time from:
Settings → Account → Delete Account
After confirmation, deletion is processed on our servers. It is not merely a local sign-out.
If you cannot access the App, email:
support@aftersunday.church
Subject: Delete My Account
Use the email address on your account.
Deleting your account permanently removes your server-side account and profile data, your face template, and your chat and user-generated content associated with your account, except where we must retain limited information to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 30 days.
Content others have already saved or that has been quoted may persist outside our control.
Full details are on our Delete Your Account & Data page.
We protect your information with industry-standard safeguards, including:
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to detect and respond to incidents promptly.
We will notify affected users and NAM without undue delay where required by law following a confirmed security incident materially affecting personal data.
We operate primarily in the United States, and your information may be processed and stored there or in other countries where we or our service providers operate.
These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your country.
Where we transfer personal information from the EEA or UK, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
The App is intended for users 16 years of age and older.
We do not permit registration by, and the App is not directed to, children under 16.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete it.
If you believe a child under 16 has provided us personal information, contact us at info@aftersunday.church.
We will delete it.
Certain features carry higher age requirements:
These features are available only to users 18 and older, and our systems are designed so that members under 18 are not able to complete that questionnaire and are not discoverable through it.
Seeded topic group chats and the business directory are available under the general 16+ baseline.
Where stricter local rules apply, those rules govern.
The table below summarizes the data the App collects and mirrors our Google Play Data Safety and Apple App Privacy disclosures.
We do not sell or share any of it for advertising.

We may update this Policy from time to time.
When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the App.
